*.* Inconsiderate people *.*

I've been reading many articles from the new paper recently about old people behaviours and how inconsiderate they are. However, I think regarding you are old, young, teenage, tall, short, fat or thin, we all have a part to play in this society. Come on, let's face the fact that we are a growing population. Very soon we will see more grandpas and grandmas on the trains and buses than now.

I was going home and was on the train. I was just sitting next to the priority seat (the one that has different tone of colours for most of the trains), however it so happened that this particular train that I took didn't have the tone to differentiate the priority seat. The train was relatively packed and this old couple came in with their grandchild in the pram. I was about to give up my seat but before doing so, I heard this young lady making such a comment '... give up.. priority seat..'

I couldn't help but jump to conclusion that they might be saying people who should give up the seat to the couple. However it makes me think that why shouldn't they make the move to give up their seat?

It doesn't mean that carrying a LV, Gucci or a Prada bag makes you any lesser to be considerate to others. When the lady was about to alight, she was stuck in between me and the baby pram, and guess what? She tried to squeeze her way out! And me being me, I wouldn't want to give way to her even though I saw the reflection and I was just waiting for her to say that magic word. Finally after trying so hard to squeeze through her way, she knew she couldn't make it and said excuse me.

If she such a tai tai carrying a Prada bag and if saying excuse me is such a different thing to say, maybe she should really consider taking cab and not the train so that she can sit as comfortably as she wants.

And for those who loves to crowd at the door of the train. Please make way for people to get in! The train has to be revamp into a train with lesser seats is because of all the inconsiderate people who loves to crowd at the door. So SMRT is very smart. By removing the seat, there is more standing space therefore the train can take up more people. But have you ever wonder the day you and I grow old and we need a seat? We probably need to bring a portable chair wherever we go!

At the end of the day, who is being more inconsiderate? The old or the young?

Ultimately, it's the culture we live in.
